Firefox – prevent websites from refreshing

This post is over 3 years old, so please keep in mind that some of its content might not be relevant anymore.

Fed up with websites/tabs continuously reloading themselves and using resources unnecessarily?
Me too!

In firefox, you can disable this from the about:config page.
Look for accessibility.blockautorefresh and set it to true.

Problem solved!

You can also keep an eye on what tab uses most of the resources with the about:performance built-in page.

Hope it helps!
Andrea

  1. This doesn’t work on v50.0.1.
It used to work however I’ve tried this on the last couple versions and it hasn’t worked.
    Any ideas?
